Living the Retired Life

Hello friends,

Thought I'd take a few minutes to tell you about myself and what I've been doing since I retired.  First of all, my racing name is BS Got It All - what a mouthful!  My foster mom says it suits me because I really DO have it all - looks and personality!  Foster mom has been calling me Garrett.  I raced in Daytona FL until I broke my right hock (ankle) in September 2013 and had to retire.  They did surgery on my leg and I lived in the adoption kennel for several months while my leg healed up.  Then a few weeks ago, I got the news:  I was headed north to begin my life as a retiree!

When we arrived from Florida, we got loaded up in vans and went to Maryland to get groomed; then I took a van ride back to Virginia, where I live with my foster mom and foster siblings - three greyhounds and a schnauzer.  Here are some pics of me on the trip up.

There are lots of things one must learn after retirement.  Who knew living in a house was so different?   How to walk up and down steps, where to potty, mealtime routines... but foster mom says I'm doing great.

One of the first things to figure out was dog beds.  Foster mom has several really big, soft fluffy beds.  My first few tries weren't completely successful...

But pretty soon I got the hang of it.

I haven't had any issues learning about how to share at the local "watering hole".  We'd just come in from playing outside and we were THIRSTY!

In case you could not tell, I am the handsome black dog at the top of the shot.
Obviously, my foster mom has discovered that black dogs ROCK!

With so many other dogs, mealtimes were a little confusing at first, but now I know where my feeding station is, and I go there and wait until foster mom brings me my dinner! Here I am waiting patiently for my bowl.

I've still got plenty of things to learn, but I'm taking it all in stride.  Foster mom says I'm doing great.  I hope you'll check back in and see what else I'm learning - I've still got to tell you about going on walks, and trips to the pet store, and a list of my favorite things!  And if you think we'd be a good match, go ahead and submit that online application today and the nice folks at GEGR will tell you all about me.

Until next time,
Garrett
